My painting

Air, Earth, Water & Soul

Always present, these vital elements, in their confluence and combination, weave our landscape. The relationships they establish with each other, the distances or gaps that are created between them, make the space open up before the viewer, despite the high degree of simplification that sometimes flattens the forms. It is the human gaze, with the light of its intelligence and driven by its emotional charge, which gives meaning to the abstract elements.

The impression of remoteness, of being lost beyond the line of the horizon, breaks the plane of the canvas into an infinite space. At the same time, at times, the almost hurtful concreteness of an object in the foreground forces the mind to start from the immediate reality. A magical mist seems to envelop and blur the forms, increasing the atmospheric sensation, making us pass from the hand of abstraction, from the world of the real to the dreamlike.
In the face of the simplification of the forms, the texture of the painting takes on relief, enriching it, and in its subtle variations and nuances it expresses great delicacy. Minimalist sensibility combined with great gestural strength: the free, sometimes brutal brushstroke, which moulds the forms and follows the movement, is transformed in some points into delicate nuances and soft transparencies.

The variety of technical treatments expresses a variety of character: the light and airy alongside the deep and unfathomable, the smallest and most ephemeral versus the infinite and eternal. And that is reflected in the richness of the colour palette, at times sombre and at others very luminous.

Joy and sadness, death and life, inseparable sides of the same coin, but never lacking a note of hope. This springs in the painting from a certain ever-present beauty or harmony, which unfolds softly and serenely; or bursts forth fiery, throbbing, positive. It is the eye, the soul, which knows how to feel it in what it perceives and cover even the darkest realities with its mantle of softness, bringing light out of the darkness.

Beauty that implies a search, a tension. A search guided by Faith. And Faith is kindled by Love.
